Serving south central Indiana since 1979, Yarns Unlimited features unique and beautiful yarns from around the world, as well as books, patterns, notions, equipment and other supplies for weaving, knitting, spinning, and other fiber arts. 

We are located in the historic Fountain Square Mall in the heart of downtown Bloomington and within walking distance to shops, restaurants and art galleries.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

 

As of 5/19/09, ownership of Yarns Unlimited was transferred to Mary Ann Gingles.  Mary Ann learned knitting by taking a beginners' class at Yarns Unlimited and has been an avid knitter ever since, spending lots of hours at the store on a regular basis.  She is dedicated to maintaining the store's tradition of community, a gathering place for yarn lovers and the best and most complete source for fiber arts supplies in the area. 

 

Suzanne Halvorson is now the store's Master Weaver and plans to offer more weaving classes and workshops in the months ahead.  In addition, she will be at the store on Tuesdays.  Mary Ann and Suzanne are working as a team to make the store the best it's ever been.  They are thrilled about this change and look forward to lots of exciting changes ahead, so stay tuned and stop by to see what's new!

 

FREE PARKING

 

Free two-hour street parking is available downtown daily and unlimited after 6:00 p.m. for those taking classes.  Also, parking is free all day Saturdays in the Fourth Street Garage ("Garage Art") on the corner of Fourth and Walnut.

  

BY HAND GALLERY

Visit By Hand Gallery, also located inside Fountain Square Mall, to see works by local as well as nationally-known artists.  Fiber arts by Yarns Unlimited instructors are represented in this unique gallery, a favorite stop for local and out of town visitors.  Yarns Unlimited and By Hand Gallery are both celebrating 30 years in business providing the finest in fiber art supplies, crafts and perfect sources for gifts in Bloomington.

LOCAL ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT

Yarns Unlimited is pleased to support local arts and entertainment and help artists and other local businesses build a stronger presence in the community.  A few of our staff and instructors are working artists and crafters who participate in various art events around town.
