The Class Schedule below lists a wide variety of classes and workshops in knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving and other fiber crafts taught by instructors who are experts in the field. All sessions are held at the shop unless otherwise noted.

CLASS REGISTRATION
Classes are limited to 4-6 students so early registration and payment are recommended to guarantee a space in class.  To register, please call (812) 334-2464 or stop by the store Monday to Saturday, 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, or click

CLASS PARKING
Free street parking after 5:00 p.m. on weeknights and all day Saturdays in "Garage Art" parking structure, all levels, and in the parking lot behind the shop--enter both from 4th Street.


All supplies for classes are available for purchase at Yarns Unlimited. Our instructors will guide you in choosing the appropriate materials.  Most patterns and printed materials for classes are FREE.

PRIVATE LESSON
Robin's private lessonTBA - Please call to schedule one  
Take advantage of  one-on-one session with one of our expert instructors. You'll pick up the skills faster and get on with your project.  This is a great way to get the instruction you need to make a specific project.  Private lessons may be arranged for knitting, weaving, crocheting & spinning.
Fee: $20 for the first hour,
        $15/hour for additional hours


CLASS BY DESIGN
Alison's classInstructor/Date/Time: TBA Gather your friends to form a group and design your very own class.  We can create a special class for a minimum of 3 students that will focus on your group's specific skills and project interest. You could have a class based on learning new skills or making a specific project using knitting, weaving, spinning, crocheting or felting.  Call us to schedule.  Date & time to be arranged with instructor.
Fee:  $10/hour per person

Discover the joy of knitting and start creating handmade pieces for yourself or for gift-giving.  It's fun, creative and a great antidote to stress! Learn how to cast on, bind off, knit, purl, decrease & increase and make a scarf for your first project.
Fee: $65 (includes "Teach Yourself to Knit" book, bamboo needles, and a skein of yarn - over $20.00 value)

INTERMEDIATE KNITTING

This course is designed for those who just completed Beginning Knitting or for anyone who needs to brush up on their knitting skills.  Learn how to read patterns, knit in the round, shaping, and other stitches to add texture to your knitting and more. Make a textured toque, classic tam or a project of your choice.
Fee:  $55

KNITTING FOR KIDS

This class is for young knitters from ages 8-12 and welcomes beginners and continuing students alike.  It is designed to be flexible and most of all fun!  Students will work on projects of their own choosing, selected with the help of the instructor, and based on the student's individual interest and skill-level.
Fee:  $50 




FAIR ISLE KNITTING:  Two-color Workshop

In just 2 hours you can learn the tricks of two-color knitting for knitting hats, sweaters or mittens.

TOP-DOWN SOCKS KNITTING

Beginning & intermediate sock knitters are welcome to this class.  Learn the traditional way of knitting socks and knit a pair for yourself or someone special.
  Intermediate knitters will do a textured or patterned sock design.

SPRING FLING SWEATER

 Make this airy fan-laced tunic with scalloped edges  from French Girl Knits that you can dress down or up.  Use mohair, wool or cotton blend yarn to wear year-round.  Students must purchase their yarn of choice  and make a gauge swatch ahead of time. Book may be purchased at the shop or students must obtain their own copy of the pattern from the library or another source.

ELIZABETH ZIMMERMAN'S EPS (Elizabeth's Percentage System)

If you're a knitter who's ready to advance your skills and start making great fitting garments, this class is essential.  Alison will guide you through this practical system of making seamless garments  which she's been using in her own designs.  Learn why EPS is considered by knitting experts as  a standard.
Recommended text:  Knitting Without Tears or Knitting Workshop by Elizabeth Zimmerman-- excellent reference books for knitters, available for purchase at Yarns Unlimited.

This class is designed for those who are new to spinning as well as those who already know how to spin on a drop spindle. We will cover the basic skills you need to make your own unique yarn.                       Fee: $65 (includes use of spinning wheel in the shop during the 3-week session)   



 

 

DROP SPINDLE WORKSHOP - FREE CLASS

Spinning yarn on a drop spindle is portable and inexpensive.  Learn basic techniques for creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind yarn with a simple drop spindle.

Fee:  FREE with purchase of material




WEAVING
LOOM WEAVING I & II

Both beginners and seasoned weavers are welcome to this class, which is limited to 5 students.  The class will focus on discovering the joy of designing, loom dressing, and creating handwoven cloth using yarns available for purchase at Yarns Unlimited. Class time with instruction is a total of 8 hours and students must put in an additional 3-4 hours of weaving time outside of class during shop hours to get projects completed within a 3-week period.  Recommended Text:  Deborah Chandler's Learning to Weave.
Fee: $105 (includes use of loom and weaving supplies in the shop during the  class period)

 
RIGID HEDDLE WEAVING WORKSHOP
