The Class Schedule below lists a wide variety of classes and workshops in knitting, crocheting, spinning, weaving and other fiber crafts taught by instructors who are experts in the field. All sessions are held at the store in Fountain Square Mall unless otherwise noted.

CLASS PARKING
Free street parking after 6:00 p.m. on weeknights and all day Saturdays in the Fourth Street Garage ("Garage Art"), all levels.  You can take the walkway across from the 3rd level of the garage to Yarns Unlimited.


All supplies for classes are available for purchase at Yarns Unlimited. Our instructors will guide you in choosing the appropriate materials.  Most patterns and printed materials for classes are FREE.

BEGINNING KNITTING

INTERMEDIATE KNITTING

This course is designed for those who just completed Beginning Knitting or for anyone who needs to brush up on their knitting skills.  Learn how to read patterns, knit in the round, shaping, do cables and other stitches to add texture to your knitting and more. Make a textured toque or cabled hat.
BEGINNER'S & RUSTY KNITTER'S INTENSIVE WORKSHOP

This class is for those new to knitting or those who have previously done some knitting and need a refresher course. By the end of the class you will have the confidence to start a knitting project of your choice. We'll cover all the basics of knitting.
KNIT FIX WORKSHOP: Learn how to fix your knitting mistakes

Dropped, added, twisted, and split stitches--they're really no big deal!  This workshop will focus on problems that creep into your knitting and help you learn how to identify and fix them.  If you have a project in progress with a little "oops", bring it along. 
KNIT AN HEIRLOOM - Sampler Afghans

         $50 for following 6 classes
Design your own afghan by selecting 20 of the 60 square patterns featured in the classic Sampler Afghans.  This collection of unique designs include cables, tweed, eyelet, shell, bobble, moss, rib and much more--guaranteed to increase your knitting know-how with every square you complete.

HAPPY HOOKING: Beginning & Intermediate Crochet

Crochet is now the cutting edge of fashion, and this class will cover the basic stitches to make beautiful crocheted items.  If you're a rusty hooker looking to sharpen or enhance your crochet skills, this is your chance to practice and create a hat, scarf or a pattern of your choice.  In addition to basic crochet stitches, the class will cover crocheting in the round, increases, decreases & patterned stitches.
ADVANCED CROCHET

Take your crochet skills to the next level and  make a crochet lace scarf in stacked diamond pattern or a shawl with rippling stitches using finer yarns.  You will learn how to read stitches to free you from strictly following written patterns.

Here's a new look at an old favorite!   In one class session you will learn a simple vintage crochet stitch using a big knitting needle and a crochet hook.   This stitch can be used to make afghans, scarves, and shaped garments, using any yarn from fine to chunky.
SPECIALTY CROCHET II:  Tunisian Crochet

Sometimes referred to as afghan crochet, Tunisian crochet is considered by many to be a cross between knitting and crochet.  It uses a long needle that has a stopper at the end, just like a knitting needle, and has a crochet hook at the other end.  Basic crochet skills required.

FAIR ISLE KNITTING:  Two-color Workshop

ON YOUR TOES! Knitting toe-up socks using Magic Loop method

Fee:  $65 (includes printed detailed instructions)
Learn how to knit socks toe up, two at a time on one 40" needle.  Socks are finished together and identical.  This is a highly technical class that takes 10 hours of instructions.  You will learn how to knit the magic loop method of circular knitting to make a pair of socks designed to fit your feet perfectly.  Basic knitting skills required but no prior sock knitting experience is necessary.
TOP-DOWN SOCKS KNITTING

Learn the special techniques for spinning mohair, silk and cotton into beautiful, unique yarns!  Each week will focus on spinning one of these luscious fibers and cover a variety of preparations and methods of spinning.  Basic wheel spinning skills and ability to spin a continuous yarn is required.

DROP SPINDLE WORKSHOP

LOOM WEAVING

This class for both beginners and intermediate weavers will introduce you to the joys of creating scarves, table runners, and much more on four harness floor looms.  Intermediate students will learn about working with pattern, while beginners will focus on color, texture and plain weave. Sign up early, as space is limited to 5 students.
SPECIALTY WEAVING

This class is for young knitters from ages 8-12 and welcomes beginners and continuing students alike.  It is designed to be flexible and most of all fun!  Students will work on projects of their own choosing, selected with the help of the instructor, and based on the student's individual interest and skill-level.
