Super Scarves Project
Wanted: Knitters & Colts Fans
Yarns Unlimited is participating in the Super Scarves Project,
a drive to hand-knit scarves by volunteer knitters for the volunteers
of Super Bowl XLVI which is being hosted by the Indianapolis Colts at
Lucas Oil Stadium in February 2012. These scarves will be part of the
official uniform of over 8,000 volunteers for this momentous event.
It's a way to say "thank you" to the volunteers, support the Colts, and
show the world our Hoosier volunteer spirit--and your hand-knitted
scarves!
Yarns Unlimited will have in stock the approved yarns & colors and
provide free patterns. Size of scarves must be 6-8" wide by 76-100"
long. Original designs in the approved colors are also encouraged. A
note from the volunteer knitter will be attached to each scarf.
Deadline for scarf submission is November 30, 2011. So, are you ready
for some knitting? We're organizing aSuper-Scarves-for-Super-Bowl knitting group every 4th Mondays of each month. Kick off is on February 22nd at 6:00 p.m.

This past year we had several exhibits in the shop including work by our instructors in lace knitting, children's knitwear designs, weaving and spinning. To continue highlighting beautifully created pieces to inspire you, we are having an exhibit of exquisite knitted handbags and purses made with beads. This collection of over 20 one-of-a-kind pieces, created by Robbie Stanton and Judy Vitaliano, were all handknitted incorporating glass beads and finished with new and vintage frames. Don't miss them! To compliment the exhibit, we are offering a class on Knitting with Beads by Judy Vitaliano, who has taught this class for many years.
Please join me in welcoming back Alison Stewart-Guinee, author of Fairy Tale Knits. Alison will join our staff later in January and will work on Saturdays and teach classes on Wednesday nights.
Next time you're in the shop, please check out our 2 special additions to our yarn collection: Lorna's Laces (washable merino wool in bulky, worsted and sport weights) and Misti Alpaca's Baby Me Boo (baby alpaca/merino/bamboo blend). I guarantee you'll love them!
As always, thank you for your support and interest in fiber arts!
- Mary Ann
